Save Your Makeup Look This Summer With This Secret

1 julio, 2019 by Admin

You’ve just spent half an hour doing your makeup for a night on the town, complete with the perfect cat eye, when five minutes later you can already feel your face melting off. You haven’t even left your damn apartment, let alone entered a hot and sweaty bar… Ugh!

Summer can be a serious struggle when it comes to looking your best, but we’ve got the secret to keeping your face looking flawless all night long: setting powder.

All Setting Makeup Is Not Alike

You’ve probably already heard of a setting spray, which is a polymer-infused liquid spray to keep your makeup intact, however adding an extra layer of liquid to your face is not what you want to be doing in the summer. Talk about a sweaty, sticky situation…

Grease Free Is The Way To Be

That’s why setting powder serves as a real savior this summer. Instead of spraying on, this powder is delicately applied on top of your foundation with a powder brush. The ingredients are packed with oil-absorbing minerals, so your makeup is never greasy and stays put in the heat. While it’s especially useful during the summer time, given its grease-reducing properties, it is also a great makeup tool to have in your arsenal year round if your skin tends to be oily or combination.

Look Younger In Seconds

In addition to absorbing oil, setting powders enhance your makeup look by blurring fine creases and lines to make you instantly look younger. This way, you avoid getting the dreaded makeup that cakes and builds up in your wrinkles. No shame in having them, but that doesn’t mean you have to highlight fine lines for everyone to see!

Setting powder is also great for reducing the appearance of your pores. This way your skin looks smooth and soft all day long.

A Versatile Addition To Your Makeup Bag

It’s safe to say setting powder is a very versatile product, because you don’t need to apply it to your whole face for it to be effective. Just a few dabs on common problem spots along the «T-Zone» is enough to make a big impact on the durability of your makeup look. So long sweaty, hello sexy!

Face masks that cover all of your wants and needs

26 junio, 2019 by Admin

Face mask

We all like to take care of ourselves from time to time, especially after a stressful week or a tiring work day. «Self-care» has been a concept to often come up lately, and we are totally up for it!

Unfortunately, we can’t always afford a trip to the spa, which is why it’s a great idea to turn your own home into a relaxation sanctuary. A little pampering is never too much to ask!

Facial masks for your needs and wants

Skincare

One of the best ways of giving ourselves some self-love is with face masks: they always seem to leave us feeling extra relaxed and renewed. And besides making us feel so good, they are super enriching for our skin.

Given each one of us has a different skin type, it’s important you dive into it a little bit and take a look at what skin type you personally have. Also, find out what benefits you wish to obtain from a face mask.

Mask

Do you suffer from dry skin and you’re looking for a mask that provides hydration? or are you instead looking for an exfoliating one? We give you a variety of masks so that you can choose the one that suits you best. Go ahead, and treat yourself!

1. Exfoliation with honey and almonds

If you desire a smooth skin that’s free of imperfections, this is the mask you are looking for. You will only need 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 almonds. Mix the honey and the almonds, and then add the lemon juice.

Almonds

Once you have made the mix, apply it to your skin and massage it swiftly into your skin with circular movements. Let it sit for approximately 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

2. Say goodbye to wrinkles

For this face mask we will use both parts of an egg (the yolk and the egg white), but separately: each will have a different function. Thus, the first step for this mask is separating both parts. Once you’ve done this, add 1 tablespoon of honey, and 2 tablespoons of milk to the yolk. Churn these 3 ingredients intensely.

Eggs

Then, churn the egg white. This part you will apply to the contour of your eyes and to your neck. The yolk mix will go on the rest of the face, just like a regular mask.

Let is sit for 10 minutes, and rinse off with warm water. We recommend you repeat the process if you want to obtain better results. You’ll immediately see an improvement in your wrinkles!

3. Hydrating oil

Olive oil

You’ve probably already heard about how good oils are for your skin. Well, for this mask we are going to use the most basic oil there is: olive oil. Apply it to your face and neck and let it sit for approximately 20 minutes. You’ll see your skin glow up! It’s great for hydration.

4. You’ll go bananas for this mask

Bananas

If you have an oily skin complex, this is the mask for you. Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of honey and a ripe banana. Once you see the mix has become an even paste, apply it to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Finally, rinse off with cold water. You’ll immediately feel your skin is more balanced and you’ll feel super relaxed!

5. Coriander vs. acne

Coriander

Many of us have suffered, or still suffer from acne, which is why we have decided to add this mask to the list. This way you’ll be able to easily fight off those annoying pimples we always want to get rid of.

Mix half a cup of milk with one cup of flour and fresh coriander. Once you obtain a more or less even paste, apply it to your skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Finally, rinse it off with warm water.

How To Save Your Sun Damaged Hair

24 junio, 2019 by Admin

Going swimming and hanging out all day at the beach: super fun. The tangled and brittled hair that results from all the chlorine and salt build up afterwards? The complete OPPOSITE.

Fearing the damage that may come from giving yourself a much needed day-cation shouldn’t be holding you back from enjoying your summer. However, if you feel like your strands needs a serious boost from all the fun in the sun, we have these five foolproof ways to save your damaged locks.

Hydrate Hair with a Treatment Mask

The combination of sun, salt, and chlorine is sure to dry out even the smoothest of strands. If you often go swimming, a deep treatment mask is essential to use at least once a week in order to prevent dry split ends and an overstressed scalp. Packed with natural oils and extracts, there’s a perfect mask for all hair types to make sure your strands are silky soft this summer!

Boost Shine With An Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

Apple Cider Vinegar has many nutrients and minerals that help with digestion, but did you know this health food is also incredible for your hair? ACV helps with restoring the pH balance, so it leaves your hair shiny and dandruff-free. After washing your locks, mix some water with a few tablespoons of ACV to massage into your scalp and leave in for a few minutes. Rinse out when done and you should see the glossy results after a few uses.

Supplement Your Diet To Heal Hair

Bottle of supplements.

Hair growth and health starts from the inside, meaning what you eat can have a great impact on hair’s strength and appearance. Eggs are the ultimate power food for your locks, with proteins keratin and biotin to ensure both strength and shine. If eggs aren’t your thing, berries, sweet potatoes, and a list of other foods are great sources of nutrients for your tresses. If you find you aren’t getting enough necessary proteins and vitamins vital for hair growth, you may want to consider a supplement to help combat deficiency.

Cut Back On The Heat

Woman using hair straightener.

We don’t mean your outdoor time spent in the sun (although you should be careful of that too, for your hair AND skin’s sake)! We mean heat stylers like straighteners, curlers, and hair dryers. While it’s common knowledge that heat stylers can cause serious damage, their effects amplify if your hair is already dead and dry from the sun. Instead of grabbing for the straightener, try doing an alternative no-heat-needed updo, like braids with a conditioning treatment or a messy low bun. Stylish and healthy!

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Bowl of Olive Oil for Hair Mask.

Yet another all-star health food on our list that doubles as a wonderful treatment for your hair. Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be used either as a leave-in Mask or Hot Oil Treatment, both of which give your hair a powerful boost thanks to the many vitamins found in EVOO. This trick is best for when you have time to lounge around the house, as the treatment is most effective when left-in for a minimum of 30 minutes. Finally an excuse to watch that latest series on Netflix and beat the heat (indoors)! You and your hair will be happy with the results.

DIY acrylic nails: a salon finish from home

19 junio, 2019 by Admin

Haven’t we all dreamt about permanently having perfect nails? The reality of it is that we can’t really keep running off to the salon whenever a nail breaks off, because of both the hassle it means, and the money we spend on it. Because let’s be real, getting your nails done is not exactly cheap.

Nails

Always perfect

Either because you believe your nails look better, or because you’d like to finally get rid of your ugly nail-biting habit, acrylic nails are an easy go-to when paying a visit to the nail salon.

We show you how you can get that acrylic nail finish without leaving your home, and for both less money and effort.

Prep your nails

Nail prepping

Pour some hot water into a bowl and let your hands rest in it until you can feel your cuticles softening. This will make pushing your cuticles back much easier, which will in turn make your nails look longer.

Get rid of your cuticles

Get hold of a cuticle remover and use it to take away excess skin. Then, push back the cuticles surrounding your nail arches to create visually longer nails. Now you’ve gotten them to look longer, you can go onto the next step.

Remove excess oil

Excess oil

Before continuing, make sure you remove any excess oil that might remain on your nails with polish remover. Thanks to this, you will notice how your fake nails stick in place for much longer.

The process

To obtain the desired «acrylic nail» look, you will need nail glue, like this one, as well as full sized fake nails, like these you can find on Amazon. Once you get hold of your material, you will have to find out which nail sizes are suitable for your own.

Fake nails

If you choose slightly smaller fake nails they will probably look more elegant and natural, rather than using those chunky fake nails; this would create a tackier look. But it really depends on your own preferences.

Time to stick on the fake nails

Start by applying a small drop of glue on each nail, on top of which you will later stick the plastic ones. You will notice how much glue you need as you go: apply enough so that the nails stick on, but not that much that will cause the glue to come out from underneath. If you feel like you haven’t applied enough glue, you can always add a bit more after.

Fake nails

Trim & file

Once you’ve stuck on the plastic nails, it’s time to trim them down, because it’s most likely they are now super long. You can take a regular nail-clipper and cut them off a bit.

After, you can go onto filing them: take a regular file and start shaping them. Bare in mind not to file the sides too much, as we’re not looking for a claw-like shape. We are rather going for a long, elegant look.

Throw in some colour

Colour

Choose the colour you want applied. We recommend the polish be of quick dry, as it will be more easily aplicable. A great trick we’d like to share with you, is that, in the case of applying too much product, or if you’ve «coloured out of the lines», you can always take the file you’ve used and gently remove it, instead of using polish remover. This will assure a nicer finished look.

Apply two layers of polish to your nails in order to obtain the desired «gel effect». They will look as if they came straight out of the nail salon. Lastly, apply a transparent top coat, and let dry.
