It’s Time To Amp Up Pink In Your Style (Again)

26 agosto, 2019 by Admin

Pink has been a popular color for… centuries. Yet it seems to be having another recent comeback. Just take one look at the runways or even your local makeup store. Pink is everywhere again, but it’s not the hue that is calling our attention. It’s how it is being worn with all new twists.

No more do we just stick to a soft pink lip color! Now there are long-lasting lip stains, eye shadow hues, blushes, and accessories to complete your look for any occasion.

Why Do We Love Pink?

This color is great to add back into your style routine for several reasons. The primary is that it is truly a universal color. While certain reds and oranges can have a harsh effect on different skin tones, pinks have enough color that is not too shocking to compliment any skin tone or hair combination.

Not only can it blend well, but pink can be statement making too. Just look to Megan Rapinoe, the forward from the US Women’s National Soccer Team who made headlines this past World Cup for her athletic prowess, political stances, and yes, her hair! Her look became so iconic, that it actually inspired stylists Riawna Capri and Joey Perrotti to name a new hue after her: Rapinkoe.

Awesome Products

While many of us can’t afford to splurge on the same products used and worn on the runway, thankfully many bargain brands have also joined in on the pink movement. You can get perfectly pink pouts with ink crayon lipsticks or achieve a nice iridescent glow with these tinted highlighters. Whatever your style choice, you’re sure to make Elle Woods proud!

Victoria’s Secret Signs Their First Transgender Model

11 agosto, 2019 by Admin

Victoria’s Secret has been criticized in the past for not having enough diversity among their models. However, they are finally breaking some ground with their latest casting of Valentina Sampaio, the company’s first ever transgender model. The news was announced by the Brazilian model on her Instagram account, in which she uploaded a picture of her in a behind-the-scenes photo shoot for Victoria’s Secret’s Pink.

Valentina additionally shared the importance of this hire with a second video on her Instagram, which she captioned «Never stop dreaming genteee.» The model received over 63k likes for the groundbreaking news.

A Pioneer In The Modeling Industry

Valentina has been considered a pioneer in the modeling world for her many firsts and achievements as a transgender. She was the first transgender to ever be the cover model of Vogue Paris in 2017. Since then she has also appeared on other Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Affair covers around the world. However, being chosen to be an Angel for Victoria’s Secret just might be her biggest achievement yet.

Fellow Victoria’s Secret Angels In Support Of The Decision

Other Victoria’s Secret Angels were also pleased by this statement-worthy decision. Angel Lais Ribeiro even took to Twitter to speak out her delight.

A Direct Response To Victoria’s Secret’s Darker Days

The decision to hire Valentina as the first transgender is likely a direct response to a shocking comment made by Victoria’s Secret exec Ed Razek last year. He said he would never hire a transsexual for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show because «the show is a fantasy.» His comment caused the company to receive major backlash, including from one of its musical guest performers, Halsey.

In November Razek officially released an apology for his anti-trans statements. And less than a year later, we have arrived at the day when a trans will now grace the photos and ads of Victoria’s Secret. We hope the decision to include more diversity only keeps growing from here!

Fashion Hacks That Are Red Carpet Approved

29 julio, 2019 by Admin

While the majority of us don’t grace the red carpet on the regular, that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy primping to feel like a star. Whether you have a big event or simply a date night with your boo, it’s nice to get dressed up. Given the amount of premieres and award shows celebrities attend, we can sure learn a thing or two from their fashion hacks.

Finally Strut Pain-Free

Many celebrities such as Melissa McCarthy and Laura Harrier swear by using CBD oil on their feet to relieve pain from uncomfortable (yet stylish) shoes. Walking around all night on high heels can really do a number on your heels and toes, and this oil helps to numb any potential pain. Dab some on a few minutes before putting on your shoes, and you’re sure to feel some long-lasting relief through the night.

Erase Away Deodorant Streaks With A Sponge

Those embarrassing white streaks left behind on your clothing from deodorant are dreadful at any occasion that involves being seen in public. That said, there is thankfully a celeb-approved solution- deodorant sponges. Yup, they exist and remove any residue from your clothing with a quick swipe. Their small portable size puts them in our beloved category of fashion hacks on the go!

Soap Up Your Zippers

bar soap- one of the fashion hacks for zippers.

We all have had that perfect dress selected to wear out, only to find the zipper won’t budge, no matter how hard you tug it. Rather than yank on the zipper until it inevitably breaks, try rubbing some bar soap on the area. The soft substance helps to create a lubricant that helps to make the zipper move more smoothly so it doesn’t snag.

Buff Your Shoes To Prevent Spills

We are all about fashion hacks that can prevent from unwanted public blunders. For anyone that has slipped and fallen while walking on uncertain surfaces, rubbing sandpaper on the soles of your shoes is a lifesaver. Even male celebrities like John Cena have used this trick to stay on his feet on the red carpet.

The Essential Wedding Dress Code To Abide By

12 julio, 2019 by Admin

Summer into early fall means prime wedding season! If you have been invited to several in the span of a few months, it can be overwhelming as to what to wear to each event. Heaven forbid you do an outfit repeat and get caught in the photo tags on Facebook and Instagram! We have the essential wedding dress code to abide by so that you can be relieved of some stress this season (as for the gift, that’s on you!)

1. Never, EVER Wear White

This is rule number one for a reason! No matter how good you look in white, the bride should always be the one to stand out on the big day. (We see you, Kelly). You don’t want to accidentally be mistaken for the bride because you happened to wear a white dress as well! Avoid any faux pas by wearing just about any other color for the wedding ceremony.

2. Don’t Wear Anything Too Flashy

Again, this goes along with the previous rule in terms of not upstaging the bride. Wearing long prom-style gowns, dresses with lots of beading, or accessories and prints that scream for attention are generally considered inconsiderate. While you have every right to look your best self, remember the attention should be on the bride!

3. Skip The Skimpy

Weddings can range from black tie events to super casual. It’s important to know before hand how casual you are permitted to dress, however in probably 99,9% of the cases, wearing clothing that is very revealing is considered underdressed. Even if the wedding takes place on the beach and you are all but counting down the seconds until you can jump in the water, there are plenty of tasteful summer dresses that are light, pretty, and appropriate.

4. Bypass The Black

Black also is deserving of a place on the «off-limits colors» list. Typically, black is associated with mourning and is a color most worn at funerals. Not quite the vibe people are going for when making wedding vows of «‘til death do us part!» In the summer in particular, it’s best to go for a little bit of color like pastels, which can really make your sun-kissed skin pop.

5. Last But Not Least… Smile!

This should go without saying, but remember to wear a smile on your friend or family member’s big day! Although the planning involved for a wedding can be extremely stressful, the bride and groom will feel that much happier on their big day knowing that their guests also enjoyed being a part of the celebration.
