Experts Tell Us Why Is Modern Dating Becoming So Hard

Experts Tell Us Why Is Modern Dating Becoming So Hard

Would you believe someone who tells you they met the love of their life on Tinder? It’s a possibility, since everyone is basically resorting to social apps for dating. One of the reasons why modern dating is so hard, is because Nowadays, people just DM each other, or hit the follow button looking for their »special person.»

The thing is, most of us grew up in an environment in which we believed true love exists, and that someday, we will meet the person who will change our life. Moreover, as we grow older, and immerse ourselves in the modern dating culture, we realize how hard it is becoming to find the right person. Technology has basically shaped our lives, and experts tell us why modern dating is so hard.

Hookup Culture Is Making Everything Easy

Every time I met a new guy that I liked and thought was quite interested, I feel the obligation of making it clear that I don’t want a hookup. Sometimes, the look on their face says it all, and other times, you know it after they stop responding. Either way, it seems like not wanting a one night stand is an obstacle in today’s dating expectations.

Moreover, the same line of ‘’I’m not looking for anything serious right now’’ is partially due to how easy getting someone has become. I mean, both men and women have been through a lot, that finding love has become such a negatively perceived word.

We Don’t Know How To Deal With Our Emotions

Another consequence of having it easy, is the fact that we don’t understand our emotions. Instead, we rather burry them in, and just jump into the next interesting thing we find. In fact, experts argue that being hurt too many times causes several people to avoid commitment, under the pretext that they are not ready. Actually, they explain, that you will never be ready until you face your issues.

The way to do it? They recommend opening up, being honest with yourself, and learning to give people an opportunity. while some people may be needing some sort of psychological help, having a more positive outlook on dating and love could be fruitful.

The Perfect Love Is Blinding Us

In addition, movies, songs and reality TV have made it even harder to settle down. As we are always drawn to the idea of ‘’the perfect person’’, that nothing is ever enough. Experts argue that the high expectations we have created for ‘the perfect love’ » makes dating harder because it’s common for us to look for what’s wrong with someone, instead of focusing on what’s right.

In other words, when you find someone who is not literally perfect, you choose to move on to the next person, as oppose as learning to work on things and grow together.

Feminism Is Changing The Game

Yes, feminism has raised so much awareness about women’s rights, and equality. If anything, this movement has given women a higher voice when it comes to dating. As a matter of a fact, experts explored the aftermath of the worldwide #metoo movement, finding that it has destroyed app dating for women.

Why? well, mainly because women are becoming more aware of the dangers of rape and abduction, and have adopted an approach of fear regarding app dating, or hookups in general.

Soft Ghosting Is The Latest Dating Trend To Haunt Us

22 septiembre, 2019 by Admin

The world of online dating is a tough one, and it’s brought along its fair share of horrible dating trends. From catfishing to ghosting, we can affirm that any time an attempt at a relationship isn’t straightforward and honest, it sucks. Despite the infinite failed dates, it appears dating apps are here to stay. Over a quarter of adults of all ages have used online dating, with 57 million people around the world using Tinder alone. Here to add to your list of awful dating trend rejections is the latest «soft ghosting.»

Soft ghosting, yet another dating term for questionable behavior, is a «kinder,» gentler version of ghosting. (AKA still terrible.) https://t.co/jYcW4dlraF

— HuffPost (@HuffPost) September 14, 2019

What Is Soft Ghosting?

There’s a good chance you’ve already experienced «soft ghosting» and did not know it. This trend refers to when you have sent a long, thought out (and most likely discussed with your friends) message on Facebook or Instagram, only to get a like in response. Not even a one word response- but a LIKE. Never has a «heart» response hurt so bad!

Clarifying The Confusion Of Soft Ghosting

It can feel both demoralizing and confusing when someone responds with a heart but no genuine response. You may start to have thoughts swirling in your head. «Maybe this person was busy in the moment! He or she probably forgot to respond! Or what if he was being kidnapped and couldn’t respond!!» Sorry honey, but you need to stop kidding yourself.

Soft ghosting is complicated because it’s not as straightforward as its harsher relative, «ghosting.» The person supposedly has at least SOME decency to put in the oh-so-agonizing effort of double tapping to like. But it may make you think they do not want to end the conversation. Or worse, have to ponder the question of, who sent the last official message?

Don’t Jump To Conclusions

This is much easier said than done. However, you should always give some proper time to allow someone to respond, especially if you did send a very long message. Sometimes people need some «me-time» away from social apps, and one should one hundred percent respect that.

If you think the conversation truly has not ended, or you want to continue talking, you can always send a follow up message. In the age of digital technology, there truly are no rules about «the perfect time» to send a message. (Those norms are soooo old school). However, if you do send another message and get a feeble or nonexistent response, you should consider, do you truly want to date someone that has minimal engagement? It can be a clear early sign of when to leave someone and look for better, more compatible fish in the sea.

Stop The Soft Ghosting In Its Tracks

If you still have not met the person, or don’t have plans for a new date, try sending some specific details about a future meet up. If he or she agrees, voila! Simply a lack of communication, your soft ghosting crisis has been averted! On the other hand, if you get zero response... It’s official. The soft ghosting has turned full on Casper mode (just in time for Halloween, how convenient).

Just remember, don’t beat yourself up for things not working out. This was a clear, truly «them not you» problem, and there is bound to be a winner in the bunch!

Swipe Left For Tinder, Facebook Dating Is Here!

6 septiembre, 2019 by Admin

Tired of using Tinder with absolutely zero luck? There’s a new dating app in town, and it’s being run by none other than Facebook, the biggest social network in the world. Facebook Dating (yes, a super original name) will accompany the platform, allowing you to create a separate profile for dating. And it’s completely free!

Facebook Dating launches in the United States today https://t.co/g5jY0tK9LB pic.twitter.com/5M74qz2tJq

— The Verge (@verge) September 5, 2019

How Will Facebook Dating Work?

Rather than have a separate app entirely, Facebook Dating will be located within the app with its own tab (next to Events and Groups). It will function like other dating applications that require you to select to join the app in order to be seen and also view other possible matches. Unlike Tinder, Facebook Dating will use an actual algorithm to help you find a suitable contender, based on your interests, location, mutual friends, and preset preferences. Finally, you might actually have a chance with that guy you crushed on in high school!

How Will You Appear In Your Profile?

Since it is connected to your Facebook account, only the first name that you have listed will show, along with your age. You then have the option to share other information, such as your gender, the gender you are interested in, any photos from your profile, job, hometown, etc.

So Long, Swiping!

If you have had enough with the swiping, you can rest easy knowing that there is NO swiping on Facebook Dating. Instead, if you are interested in a person’s profile, you can leave a comment or hit a like button for them to know. If you don’t like a profile you see, simply hit «X» and you will be shown the next one.

Fear Not- No Family Here!

If you are worried about your family members popping up among potential matches, fear not! Facebook Dating does not pair you with any Friends, only «friends of friends.» However, if you have been thinking about that one cutie from high school, you still have the potential to become matches. How? By the «Secret Crush List,» where you add all the people who you have «crushes» on, and if they add you then you are both notified.

Increased Safety With Facebook Dating

Many people have been afraid to use dating apps for the fear of going out with a total stranger. What if they are a serial killer?! While the chances of that are very slim, Facebook Dating has implemented a feature to make it safer than its counterpart dating apps– by adding the option to share your live location with your friends on Messenger. You can step out in confidence your next date, and who knows… Maybe finally find the one!
