5 Signs You Are Doing Better Than you Think

Do you feel overwhelmed with life sometimes? Well, you may be doing better than you think. Technology and social media have drastically changed our way of living. We often resort to »comparing» our lives to those we know (and sometimes don’t even know). However, it is important to keep in mind, that each one of us go according to their own timeline. So, whatever we may be going through, we shouldn’t forget that even in our darkest days, we are still doing better than a lot of unfortunate people.

If you are in doubt, or just been feeling blue lately, here are few signs to remind you that you are on the right track.

1- You Have a Roof Over Your Head

Unfortunately, Global Homelessness Statistics estimates that over 1.6 billion people in the world are homeless. So, to put your life back into perspective, be thankful for having a place to lay your head at night. Wether it’s too hot or too cold, sunny or rainy, you have a place to go to every night, and to call home.

2- You Are Healthy

Remember that time your nose got clogged, and you sat there wondering why you ever took life for granted when you could breathe? Well, this is the same case. Being healthy is something that we often neglect, because we don’t know how much harder it gets when you are sick. Therefore, if you woke up today with no health problems, then you are doing better than half of the world’s population.

3- You Have At Least 1 Good Friend

If you have a mother, a father, a sibling or even just one person to talk to, then you are doing better than you think you are. A good friend who is there for you, listens to you, helps you in your ups and downs is definitely a blessing. New research that targeted people with chronicle depression, found out that nearly 80% of the cases are due to loneliness.

4- You Are Passionate About Something

It doesn’t matter if you like painting, singing or building machines. If you have a passion in your life that you enjoy doing, and most importantly, that can do, then you are doing great. So many people struggle with finding a sense of »purpose» and having the courage to do something they love. You should keep working on your passion, because so many people would give anything to be in your shoes.

5- You Are Not Giving Up

The most important sign of all. As long as you keep trying and don’t give up to bad situations, then you are on the right track in life. There will always be something you can’t have, a situation you can’t control, and something you really love that you have to let go of. A bad relationship, a toxic friendship, a job you don’t love… If you keep pushing through no matter what, then you are absolutely not giving yourself enough credits.

Mattel Is Releasing A Line Of Gender-Neutral Dolls

People have (rightfully) criticized Mattel’s Barbie over the years for creating unrealistic beauty standards for little girls. However, the company has been at the forefront of change these past few years, most notably with their recent announcement to create gender-neutral dolls. The Creatable World line is a collection of dolls that are fully customizable, allowing kids to choose how their dolls look. At last, kids can feel like they are better represented, as the dolls seek to eliminate labels and stereotypes.

As stated by Mattel, the Creatable World collection was made «to keep labels out and invite everyone in.» In fact, the slogan for this gender-neutral collection is «All Welcome,» to emphasize the «dolls are as limitless as the kids who play with them.»

Gender-Neutral Doll Changes

Mattel’s biggest criticism over the years was its exclusivity, making young children of different colors and appearances not feeling represented by the very dolls they play with. To help more kids feel included, Mattel created six toy kits that have varying skin tones and interchangeable wigs. The dolls also come with different clothing items and accessories that are also for any gender. Finally, one of the biggest changes comes from the actual doll design itself. No longer do the dolls have highly disproportionate and sexualized bodily features.

Positive Feedback From Fans

So far, the response to Creatable World has been generally positive, with Mattel followers on Twitter sharing their pride in the new creation. While there are always more progressive moves to be made, it looks as if Mattel is really heading in the right direction as a pioneer in gender-neutral toys for kids.

The Kardashians Were The Laughingstock of The Emmys

This past Sunday marked the annual biggest awards night in American television, The Emmys. While many television shows and networks went away as true winners that night (HBO with 9 wins, the show «Fleabag» with 4), one of the biggest moments of the night didn’t come from the winner’s podium. Rather, the most cringe-worthy moment came when Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner presented the award for «Outstanding Reality TV.»

A Not-So-Real Reality

Kim and Kendall are famous for being part of the 5 sisters that star on «Keeping Up With The Kardashians.» The show follows their lives, through all their drama living as millionaires (and billionaires). When they went to present the award for Reality TV, Kim told the audience «Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves.»

Kendall then continued the speech in a serious tone, «Telling their stories unfiltered and unscripted.» Despite the two claiming their lives are completely unfiltered and real in front of the camera, it appeared the Emmys audience had a different perspective as they burst out laughing at the two stars.

The Twitter Jokes Following The Emmys

Although the audience was in an uproar, by the looks of Kim and Kendall’s faces, they thought the moment was anything but funny. The oh-so-awkward moment soon became the source of many jokes on Twitter.

A Misunderstanding

It turns out, the lines by Kim and Kendall were supposed to be a joke, but the two sisters never got the memo before hand. They were not informed prior to reading the teleprompter to give the award that it should be tongue-in-cheek. As a result, well… they became the fools of the Emmys. Maybe this is a sign for Kim to start focusing less on Reality TV and more on her Law Bar exam…

Soft Ghosting Is The Latest Dating Trend To Haunt Us

The world of online dating is a tough one, and it’s brought along its fair share of horrible dating trends. From catfishing to ghosting, we can affirm that any time an attempt at a relationship isn’t straightforward and honest, it sucks. Despite the infinite failed dates, it appears dating apps are here to stay. Over a quarter of adults of all ages have used online dating, with 57 million people around the world using Tinder alone. Here to add to your list of awful dating trend rejections is the latest «soft ghosting.»

What Is Soft Ghosting?

There’s a good chance you’ve already experienced «soft ghosting» and did not know it. This trend refers to when you have sent a long, thought out (and most likely discussed with your friends) message on Facebook or Instagram, only to get a like in response. Not even a one word response- but a LIKE. Never has a «heart» response hurt so bad!

Clarifying The Confusion Of Soft Ghosting

It can feel both demoralizing and confusing when someone responds with a heart but no genuine response. You may start to have thoughts swirling in your head. «Maybe this person was busy in the moment! He or she probably forgot to respond! Or what if he was being kidnapped and couldn’t respond!!» Sorry honey, but you need to stop kidding yourself.

Soft ghosting is complicated because it’s not as straightforward as its harsher relative, «ghosting.» The person supposedly has at least SOME decency to put in the oh-so-agonizing effort of double tapping to like. But it may make you think they do not want to end the conversation. Or worse, have to ponder the question of, who sent the last official message?

Don’t Jump To Conclusions

This is much easier said than done. However, you should always give some proper time to allow someone to respond, especially if you did send a very long message. Sometimes people need some «me-time» away from social apps, and one should one hundred percent respect that.

If you think the conversation truly has not ended, or you want to continue talking, you can always send a follow up message. In the age of digital technology, there truly are no rules about «the perfect time» to send a message. (Those norms are soooo old school). However, if you do send another message and get a feeble or nonexistent response, you should consider, do you truly want to date someone that has minimal engagement? It can be a clear early sign of when to leave someone and look for better, more compatible fish in the sea.

Stop The Soft Ghosting In Its Tracks

If you still have not met the person, or don’t have plans for a new date, try sending some specific details about a future meet up. If he or she agrees, voila! Simply a lack of communication, your soft ghosting crisis has been averted! On the other hand, if you get zero response... It’s official. The soft ghosting has turned full on Casper mode (just in time for Halloween, how convenient).

Just remember, don’t beat yourself up for things not working out. This was a clear, truly «them not you» problem, and there is bound to be a winner in the bunch!

Nowadays, studies prove that marriage rates are plummeting, and part of that, is due to uncertainty about feelings. If you don’t know where you stand with a guy, that’s probably because he is not into you. Here are some signs to keep in mind.

Mixed Signals

If a guy sends you mixed signals about their feeling, then probably they don’t really want you. Several men confessed that when they are not sure about a girl, they try to keep sending her mixed signals until she finally walks away on her own…Be careful of this type of guys because they can keep you hanging for a long time. While they are enjoying their life, you are just sitting there wondering if they actually love you or not.

Love Bombing

This the complete opposite of the previous one. When a guy uses this technique, it makes you feel valued and special. They shower you with compliments, love, and affection. You feel like they really want to be dating you. Then, all of sudden, they are gone. You wonder where did you go wrong, but it’s really not you, it’s them. They enjoy seeing you need them, and becoming attached to them. You start thinking to yourself that this could be ‘love at first sight’ but, it almost never is. These guys are not willing to commit. Avoids Defining the Relationship

When it comes to knowing what the two of you are, there is no better way than asking. However, if he shows little interest in knowing, or considers that it’s not important to label it, then chances are he is confused about you. If you are always wondering , then you need a reality check. A man who’s interested doesn’t leave you wondering. It’s as simple as that.

More Physical than Emotional

Physical attraction is very important in a relationship, but it’s not everything. If your guy is open about that but not his emotions, then that’s one big red flag. He is definitely not that into you if he doesn’t open up to you, share his feelings, and show interest in understanding yours. Moreover, a guy who likes you will let you in and will only hangout with you when it works for him.

He Doesn’t Make Effort

Finally, this is for me the most important sign. We often try to find excuses to why men don’t text us first. We say »Oh, he must-ve had a bad day.» Although that might be true in some cases, a man who cares about your won’t go a week without a text/call/message. So, if you are always the one making the first move, you should reconsider where you stand with that guy.
