4 Tips to Correctly Remove Your Makeup

29 noviembre, 2019 by Admin

We all know the importance of correctly removing makeup at the end of everyday. However, it is not enough to just wipe it off your face. Furthermore, you need to make sure to truly clean and moisturize your face before going to bed. Makeup residues can cause serious damage to your skin, therefore, we’ve gathered for you these 4 tips to help you correctly remove your makeup.

Take Your Time

Let’s be real, we all have rushed into removing our makeup before. Coming back home late, or after a party makes you spend less time in front of the mirror. However, frequently doing so can cost you a lot. In fact, Dermatologist Ranella Hirsch insists on applying makeup remover, letting it set for few minutes than brush it off. Long story short, if it takes you 5 minutes to remove your make up, you are not doing it correctly.

Cotton Pads Are Better Than Cotton Balls

Flat cotton pads are definitely better, and easier to use than cotton balls. Why? Well, mainly because cotton balls break easily and might »leave fibers on your lashes or skin,» says dermatologist Rebecca Kazin. On the other hand, using few flat cotton pads will ensure you don’t leave any makeup residue behind. Also, make sure not to rub too hard on your skin, and even less when it comes to correctly removing makeup from the eye area.

Use Soap And Water

Unpopular advice: Soap and water actually clean better than makeup wipes. Actually, they do a great job as an initial part in your makeup removal routine, but should always be followed by deep cleansing. Make sure to always follow up through washing your face with soap and water, in order to properly clean the pores and avoid skin irritation.

Moisturizing Is Important

There are plenty of factors in our daily lives that make us dehydrated. Therefore, just as you need to drink water to revive your body, you must hydrate your skin as well. As a finish to removing your makeup and cleaning your face, add a moisturizer. Lip balm for the lips, castor oil for the eye lashes, and the right moisturizing cream for your face area.

Don’t Throw Away Your Broken Make Up, Fix It

1 noviembre, 2019 by Admin

Make up can be quite expensive. So if your products somehow break, don’t throw them away. Especially if it’s a brand new palette, or a lipstick color you’ve been looking for a long time. Today in Cachet we show you easy methods to fix your broken make up back to its original condition. Well, it will not be as new, but you will be able to re-use it perfectly. Follow these steps to fix your broken make up.

Eye Shadow Palette

If you happen to drop your new eye shadow palette, then you know that mini-heart attack feeling. But don’t worry, because youcan fix it. In fact, what happens is that if one eye shadow cracks, it stains the rest of the palette tones. Therefore, you can try this simple hack to fix it.

First, start by getting rid of any loose debris, either by lightly touching it or with the help of a brush. Once you have done this you must press the shadow so that you avoid the appearance of other cracks.

Highlighter/Bronzer Powder

This is the most common accident we all suffer from. When you drop a powder make up product, chances are it has split to a million pieces. Instead of feeling sad and going to buy another one (Because powder products are so important) you can try to fix it this way.

You should re-collect the broken parts, and return as much product as you can to the compact. Then, using a spoon, you can «crush» the product, then add somerubbing alcohol. Make sure to smooth out the paste using the spoon, then let it dry for at least 24 hours.

Your Favorite Lipstick

Imagine that you bought a new MAC lipstick shade for 20$, then few days later it breaks. You are not going to spend that extra-cash for a new one, while you can easily fix the broken one at home.

Start with melting the ends of the lipstick broken in half with a lighter. Then, use a cotton swab to smooth the ends. Stick the two parts together, using the lighter and smoothing with the cotton swab. Make sure that both parts are solidly stuck together. Finally, put it in the refrigerator for about 3-4 hours. Voilà!

Make your beauty routine eco-friendly

7 agosto, 2019 by Admin

Sustainable beauty

Most of us have made up our own personalized beauty routines throughout the years. One we already know works best for us and totally swear by it. However, increasingly are we starting to be aware of the damage we’ve done to our planet, which is why we must change certain habits and ways of living.

You can start by contributing with your beauty routine. It might seem minor, but following a couple of steps you will be able to make big changes. Plus, you will barely notice the changes yourself, while the environment will. We leave you some tips to follow an eco-friendly beauty routine, and thus, take care of the world we live in.

1. No more plastics

Biodegradable pots

When it comes to makeup or taking care of our ourselves, the products we apply on our skin are essential. The issue comes when all of these products are made out of plastic. Non-biodegradable packaging that pollutes our planet during thousands upon thousands of years. We’ve already learnt about how harmful plastic is, and how badly it’s affecting planet Earth.

Therefore, it’s vital you change plastic packaging for other types of containers, like those made out of glass, or the eco-friendly ones. Biodegradable packaging is usually tagged specifically with: «eco-friendly PE», «Green PE», or «HDPE PCR».

2. Use your imagination

Reusable containers

Following the point above, it’s very possible you already have some plastic products at home. Don’t worry. You can give them a new life. Let your imagination go and transform the utility of the plastic container.

You can turn them into pots to hold your pencils, or even get creative and make your own art pieces. The sky’s the limit, and plastic your canvas. This way, you’ll avoid having to throw all of that plastic away. If you still feel like you need to throw some out, make sure it’s always in the yellow containers.

3. Go eco-friendly: use washable towels and disks

Towels

Although we might have become used to disposable products, like cotton disks and q-tips, it’s now time we leave this bad habit behind. These type of products are extremely polluting and interfere with the flora and fauna of the planet.

Therefore, it’s time we start using reusable products like towels, muslins, washable disks… You can use anything as long as you can wash it again!

4. Don’t buy new products if you don’t really need them

Makeup has an expiry date. Take a look at the dates that your products have and throw them away once they’ve gone bad. But be careful not to throw them out before they have actually expired.

Makeup

In order to do so, you must have everything organized to know what expires when, and this includes your entire closet. This way you’ll make sure nothing gets lots in the depths of your shelf, and you’ll avoid buying new products when you don’t need them.

5. Opt for more eco-friendly products

We’ve already been talking about disposable beauty products, but the same rules apply to those that a are a bit less obvious. When we think «disposable», we usually think about products like cotton disks and similar. However, your toothbrush and hairbrush are just as important.

Steel razor

Try to change your regular toothbrush for one made of biodegradable wood. The same goes for your hairbrush. Plus, you should change your disposable razor for one that lasts a bit longer, like those made from steel.

Lastly, it’s worth noting that feminine hygiene products are also important to think about. Buy yourself a menstrual cup, rather than tampons or pads. It’s much cheaper on the long-run, and it’s a million times better for the planet. But remember to be patient, not all of us can place it right the first time we use it.

6. Generate as little garbage as possible

If you are one of those people who find a product that works well for them and keep it throughout your entire life, try to buy the biggest possible container. That way, you’ll avoid having to throw it out as often, because it’ll take longer to finish.

In addition, if you buy a new product and you end up not liking it, or it just doesn’t work for your skin type, try to give it away to someone instead of throwing it in the bin. It would be a total waste, as the product is new and someone else might actually enjoy it.
